Sotheby’s Museum X Outsiders

July 24th 2021, we debuted our art piece “Woman” at Sotheby’s NYC with Fashion Week San Diego and the ARC Renewal Center!

This event took place at the Sotheby’s auction house in New York City where our piece was displayed on the second floor of the museum.

The piece I (Calah Olson) created was dedicated to women all over the world. This dress was my way of showing society the struggles and strength of women everywhere. I took a vintage 40 year old wedding dress and destroyed it with paint, fire, and safety pins!

A few months ago I asked all of our women followers to share a story about a struggle or situation they faced because they were a woman. I received over 200 stories and I included every single one in this dress. I had the stories of our followers, my family, and my friends handwritten onto this dress so that our stories would be told.

I want to personally thank you all for sharing your stories with me and becoming apart of this beautiful project. I couldn’t have done it without you!!
